The Optimist Club of Solano County Chapter is a Non-Profit Service Organization (501.c4) that focuses on the well being of children in our community. The clubs motto is, “Bringing the Best out of Kids”. With that idea, the Optimists lead by example for our next generation and how they will be accountable in their communities.
Optimist International was founded in 1911. At that time there were only men as members, later in 1987 women were welcomed and in 1996 the Optimist Club of Solano County was chartered. Today, Optimist International has grown to 2,900 clubs world wide and is one of the largest service club organizations with over 100,000 members with the main headquarters in St. Louis, Missouri. Optimist International helps youths in 29 countries including the United States, Cambodia, Canada, France, Ghana, Jamaica, Kenya, Mexico, The Netherlands, Nicaragua, Nigeria, Philippines, Russia Federation, Thailand, Ukraine and Vietnam
What do The Optimists do? Each club is an autonomous volunteer association which strives to recognize community needs in their local area. The club is run by local members that have a unique flexibility to select a broad range of projects particularly serving youth.
Examples of events accomplished are:
1. Helping by volunteering time or fundraising for children with cancer.
2. Providing school supplies to schools in need.
3. Actively providing hands on volunteering to other non-profits focusing on children.
4. Partnering up with activities for the betterment of children in the community.
